Wilbur Hsu is a Tāmaki Makaurau designer whose namesake brand draws upon his interest in his own heritage, linage and past.
九 JIÛ was born from a desire to recreate something from the past and has a goal to create something to be kept and cherished. The collection is made from existing materials found throughout Aotearoa to bring you fine metals, jade and pure silk. Handmade locally in Tāmaki Makaurau. 九 JIÛ [9] consists of nine charms cast from his childhood bracelets. Each charm has a different meaning and wish for a newborn baby: the dragon charm for strength and protection, the clam Shell Earring for patience and growth, and the kaleidoscope for perspective. By recreating precious items from the past, a new memory is “designed to be cherished” in the present.
